Our path to homeschooling~tagged.
Well, I’ve been homeschooling for years now. When my oldest (27) was in first grade and my second daughter was in Kindergarten I had a friend who had homeschooled in Alaska. I wasn’t sure that I could do it here but it always intrigued me. Fast forward a few years about 4. I was pregnant with number 5 and my second daughter was miserable in school. I was ‘mommy glue’. She would come home upset and miserable and I would glue her back together to send her to school the next day. Finally I convince my ex husband to let me try to homeschool her. So I called the school and somehow the board of ed got involved and wanted to test her to see if she had learning disabilities. I got a hold of the number to Diana Fessler. She is a wonderful intelligent lady. We spent some time working out how to deal with the board of ed. I then called the board of ed. back and told them that my daughter had taken the CAT and was in the normal % range. So they backed off quite nicely. We finished out the year and the following year I pulled out my oldest daughter and homeschooled her for 2 years. She was a bit more difficult and I have an idea why now. But at the time I had no idea why homeschooling with her was so miserable. She did wonderful for a few years though after going back to ps. Renee the second child was home until 9th grade. the next children were home until after my divorce from their father. My husband now and I have always homeschooled our little ones. It was in the marriage agreement
I’m quite serious here. i was adamant that if we had children that they needed to be homeschooled. After hanging around with my friends that also homeschool my husband was fine with it. He is one of my biggest supporters, as is my oldest son. I see us homeschooling the littles as I think of them until they graduate and go to college. Quite awhile as the youngest just turned 2 this week. I guess my next entry will be how we came to use Sonlight. That is a great story.

Hey! I found your blog through my Tag list. I also have one that hsing didn’t work with. She’s very happy in private school. I loved reading your homeschool journey. I just graduated my 2nd homeschooler.
An interesting journey you had! I’m looking forward to reading how you chose Sonlight, also. Thanks for the tag.
Thank you for telling your story. Putting homeschooing in your marriage agreement really does show your seriousness and your mindfulness of your future children.
